Tanya Ramirez, a 31-year-old former teacher and coach at King High School in Corpus Christi, was indicted last week on the second-degree felony, which is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

Ramirez, who was set to stand trial on September 14 for the original 2014 charge after turning down a plea deal, will be arraigned on the second charge on Wednesday morning.

Lawyers for Ramirez have claimed the 17-year-old male from the first charge was legally an adult when they had sex and he also was not her student, the Corpus Christi Caller-Times reported.

They turned down a plea deal that would have secured their client probation and avoided a conviction because it would have required Ramirez to plead guilty and give up her teaching license.

Ramirez, who was fired by the Corpus Christi Independent School District after the allegations, is free on bail and her teaching certificate is under review by a Texas education board.

Her attorney, Christopher Gale, said: 'Our client is dismayed at the additional, untrue allegations and looks forward to her day in court.'

Not much is known about the second student, but District Attorney Mark Skurka confirmed it is a different individual than the 17-year-old male, although the age of the alleged victim is unclear.

Authorities claim they identified Ramirez in a cellphone recording related to the first charge that shows a woman with an eight-inch tattoo on her lower back.

The student she is accused of having sex with remained one of the most popular kids in school until he graduated from King and even started college this month, according to KRIS 6 News.

His mother said last month: 'I know that what my son did was wrong, he knows that now, it won't happen again, but what are they going to do to make sure that this woman will not sleep with another student?'
