Ralph L. Campbell
Ralph L. Campbell, 85, entered his heavenly home surrounded by his loving family on Feb. 24, 2024 after a lengthy illness following several difficult heart surgeries and weekly dialysis.
Ralph was owner of Memory Chapel Funeral Home since 1973. He was happiest when he was serving people in their time of need, was never ready to “retire,” and has said many times the only paycheck he ever earned was from a funeral home.
Ralph loved his Lord and was a member of First Baptist Church of Laurel. He served as deacon and on numerous committees. He also supported Laurel, serving on many boards and participating in civic affairs. He was a member and served as president of Mississippi Funeral Directors.
Ralph Campbell was predeceased by his parents Leslie (Bay) and Lulu Rayner Campbell of Louin; and his “other parents” Adrian and Evelyn Culpepper of Meridian.
He is survived by his loving, supportive wife of 65 years Fay Culpepper Campbell; daughter Leslie; son Richard Barry; daughter-in-love Jennifer; and was “Poppy” to his beloved granddaughter Jocelyn. He is also survived by his sister Doris (James) Montgomery; sister-in-law Kay (Glenn) Pugh; nieces, nephews, other relatives, numerous friends and his faithful, devoted employees.
His health necessitated his spending his last days at Guardian Angels Assisted Living. The family says “thank you” to the nursing attendants who treated him as their own family. He was fond of each of you.
Visitation will be at Memory Chapel from 9-10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 29, with interment at 11 a.m. in Lake Park Hills Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be employees of Memory Chapel, whom he loved dearly. Honorary pallbearers will be faithful friends Frank Cox, Dr. George Bush, James Winstead, Judge Charles Pickering, Bobby Stevens, Joe Myers and Tony Thaxton.
